Family of W. Devereux make contact.

June 19, 2009

Mary Louise Pearce and Stewart J. Nolan have made contact today regarding their great grandfather, W. Devereux who was a member of the famous 1920 Hermina rescue.

W. Devereux was on the Irish Ferry S.S. St. Patrick, alongside the quay, when the Chaterhouse was called out.

He was a native of Wexford.

The contact with this family [only the second family in contact with me – Tom Perkins’ family was the initial contact] is in its early stages so I hope they will supply us with more details, either through emails or in the ‘Blog’!

Cemaes Classic Lifeboat

April 24, 2009

Neil Lomas phoned this morning and told me to look at www.CemaesClassicLifeboat.co.uk

  • Watson Type 38ft. 12 oarsmen, Cox., Bowman (non self righting).
  • It was built in 1907 by Thames Ironworks.
  • It was the same boat builder as the Charterhouse, but two years earlier.

I read through the webpage and put an immediate link on our website!

Tonight I had a call from David Williams [Liaison Officer] of the Cemaes Classic Lifeboat.

Somehow the County Echo had travelled all the way north to Cemaes!

He wants to invite members up to Anglesey for their ‘big day’!

He could not believe that six of us were so close on Wednesday.

Read all about it on their website.

Two contacts in one day about the same project!
